The Rhythm of God – Pastor Bob Smith
This is the first time I have officially blogged, not even sure how to start! Do I say “Hi!” or just start? Well here goes.
The first thing is, what is a blog? I looked it up - “a shared on-line journal where people post diary entries about their personal experiences and hobbies.” Do I have to get personal, in order to blog? I do!
My life is full and more or less in balance. Over the last few years my pattern has been based on rhythms. When I get this right, my life is good and my future blogs will be good. My favourite Bible verse is John 10 v 10, where Jesus says “the thief only comes to kill, rob and destroy, but I have come to give you life to the full.” We all have the same 24 hours in a day and I try to fill my days with good things. For instance, one of my rhythms is to spend time reading the Bible, praying and contemplating what life is all about and how to serve my King better. Other rhythms include, time with my wife and family, time with friends, trying to keep fit, serving churches, prison work etc., always checking there is balance and true rhythm.
When I get out of balance because one of my rhythms does not happen or needs more attention, I make the effort to set this right. The main effort, or rhythm is to live a life of love and obedience, based on my Christianity. Perhaps in future blogs I will get more personal, as this is something, we all can find tough.
Do I sign off on a blog? I’m not sure, so maybe I won’t!
Thanks Bob. How about you? How are your rhythms in life? Why not pray and ask God for guidance?
